Air Force sergeant held for 'killing'<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The police arrested last night an Air Force
\nfirst sergeant for allegedly killing a woman whose dismembered
\nbody was found in a fishpond in Pondok Ranggon, East Jakarta, on
\nSaturday.<\/p>\n
Chief of the East Jakarta Police precinct Lt. Col. Sjahrir
\nKuba told The Jakarta Post last night that his team of detectives
\narrested the Air Force officer, identified only as First Sgt.
\nLuk, at 9:30 p.m. at a security post near Halim Airbase in East
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
Sjahrir said the suspect did not resist arrest. He was
\ndetained at the East Jakarta Police headquarters.<\/p>\n
Sjahrir said the victim had been identified as Chairanti,
\nalias Butet, 25, a resident of Bintara Jaya housing complex in
\nWest Bekasi.<\/p>\n
"There was an indication that they had had an affair," he
\nadded.<\/p>\n
The police found earlier yesterday seven human body parts in
\nHalim Perdanakusuma, East Jakarta. The body parts were confirmed
\nas belonging to Chairanti, though her mutilated body was found 10
\nkm away in Pondok Ranggon.<\/p>\n
The seven pieces were found wrapped in five plastic bags in
\nbushes 200 meters from a runway at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air
\nForce base.<\/p>\n
The body parts, consisting of a head, right arm, two hands,
\ntwo feet and the lower part of the right leg, were located about
\nfive meters from the fence of the base complex.<\/p>\n
The pieces were immediately removed by officers of the East
\nJakarta police precinct.<\/p>\n
No details were available on who first discovered the body
\nparts or who informed the police about the discovery.<\/p>\n
The body parts were immediately sent to Cipto Mangunkusumo
\nGeneral Hospital yesterday evening for postmortem examination.<\/p>\n
Budi Sampurna, one of the hospital's forensic experts,
\nconfirmed yesterday that the seven body parts were part of the
\nunidentified female body found in Pondok Ranggon.<\/p>\n
He said, however, no information was available yet on the way
\nthe woman was killed.<\/p>\n
City Police spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said earlier
\nyesterday that police still had not found significant clues to
\nuncover the mystery of the hideous murder.<\/p>\n
"So far, three families have tried to identify the victim at
\nCipto Mangunkusumo Hospital," he said.<\/p>\n
Aritonang also said that the police were still working on the
\nfirst mutilated body case, in which a body was cut into 12 pieces
\nand found in Tangerang on June 21.<\/p>\n
"We are doing the best we can. Both cases are being handled
\nthoroughly. There is a slight chance that these cases could be
\nsolved from leads gained from witnesses and forensic results...
\nbut of course if the killer made mistakes, it would be
