        "content": "<p>Air Force flies stranded passengers<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Air Force launched a humanitarian<br>\noperation, the Air Bridge Operation, at the Halim Perdanakusuma<br>\nAirport yesterday, deploying three C-130-type Hercules military<br>\ncarriers to transport 403 people to Pontianak, West Kalimantan.<\/p>\n<p>Airforce spokesman Col. Bachrum Razir said the passengers were<br>\nleft stranded for three days at Tanjung Priok Port in North<br>\nJakarta due to overloading on a ship of the state-owned Pelni<br>\nline.<\/p>\n<p>The passengers had waited in vain since Friday before the Air<br>\nForce decided to lend a hand, Bachrum said.<\/p>\n<p>The passengers were transported in three groups.<\/p>\n<p>The flights were staffed by 11 aircrews and pilots from Air<br>\nSquadron 31 based at Halim Perdanakusuma, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday's operation was not the first for the Air Force,<br>\naccording to Bachrum.<\/p>\n<p>In 1980, the Air Force organized a nationwide air lift when<br>\nstate-owned Garuda Indonesia airline was grounded by a crisis.<br>\n(aan)<\/p>",
