AIDS prevention clinic for Bali<\/p>\n
DENPASAR, Bali: The Australian government will finance an AIDS
\nprevention and information program in Bali, in association with
\nthe East Nusa Tenggara and South Sulawesi provinces.<\/p>\n
The chairman of Bali's AIDS Prevention Commission chapter, I
\nGusti Agung Mayun Eman, said the model project was organized with
\nthe help of the Indonesian Hindu Council (PHDI), Antara reported
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
The council, with assistance from the Ministry of Religious
\nAffairs' district office, pioneered a religious consultation
\nclinic to offer information and services to the public about
\nHIV\/AIDS.<\/p>\n
"Each person must be given a sense of moral firmness and
\npurity of thought to prevent them from acting against the
\nteachings of their faith," council chief Ida Bagus Wijaya Kusuma
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
I Gusti said that the three-year project had shown
\nsatisfactory results in its first year.<\/p>\n
Bali, Indonesia's most famous tourist destinations, currently
\nhas 39 HIV\/AIDS cases.<\/p>\n
Jakarta has the highest number of HIV\/AIDS carriers, followed
\nby Irian Jaya, Riau and East Java, Antara reported. The most
\nrecent official data on HIV\/AIDS carriers in Indonesia reported a
\ntotal of 545 cases up to May 31. (01)<\/p>",
