Jakarta, Kompas.com - Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Chairman of the\nDemocratic Party and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional\nDevelopment, expressed deep regret over Israeli military strikes against\nIran.<\/p>\n
AHY stated that such an attack would trigger geopolitical shocks,\nparticularly in the Middle East. \u201cWe certainly very much regret the\noccurrence once again of war, Israeli strikes against Iran, which as we\nknow will inevitably cause geopolitical shocks, especially in the Middle\nEast,\u201d said AHY, after attending the Harmoni Imlek 2026 event at\nLapangan Banteng, Jakarta, on Saturday (28 February 2026).<\/p>\n
According to him, this development would significantly influence\nglobal security and stability overall.<\/p>\n
AHY assessed that the strikes would impact regional aviation. He\nexpressed hope that Indonesia would take anticipatory measures to\nprevent the conflict from escalating further and causing greater\ndamage.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe this is something we must be able to mitigate, including\nhopefully not disrupting aviation too severely. However, airlines will\ncertainly reassess safety as their first priority, because the flight\npaths are unpredictable in wartime, especially with long-range missiles\nand drones,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
AHY hoped the conflict would end quickly, as war could cause\nhumanitarian tragedy and severe challenges in the economic sector. \u201cOnce\nagain, we hope this can end quickly. Because this will result not only\nin humanitarian tragedy but also cause various heavy challenges in the\neconomic sector, including global energy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to The Guardian, Israel closed its airspace as a precaution\nin case Iran responded with drone and missile strikes. An Israeli\nmilitary spokesman stated that the assault was a preemptive strike to\neliminate threats to the nation.<\/p>\n
