Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting\non infrastructure and regional development at the State Palace on\nTuesday (12\/5\/2025). The meeting discussed plans for constructing a sea\nwall along the north coast of Java.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure\nand Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, CEO of BPI Danantara\nRosan Roeslani, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, and Head of the\nJava North Coast Authority Didit Herdiawan.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe reported on the concept for developing and protecting the North\nCoast of Java,\u201d said AHY after the meeting.<\/p>\n
He stated that the northern Java region faces issues of land\nsubsidence and tidal flooding due to rising sea levels. Therefore, a sea\nwall is needed to protect tens of millions of people in the Pantura area\nand surrounding industrial centres.<\/p>\n
On that occasion, Didit Herdiawan also reported to the president that\nthere are 15 segments for sea wall construction along the north coast of\nJava from Serang to Gresik. However, they are still delving into the\nthematic aspects of each area to accommodate appropriate economic values\nin each segment.<\/p>\n
\u201cThus, further assessment is required,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
However, when asked about when this sea wall will be built, he said\nit is still under calculation.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the timeline, we are arranging the implementation of this\nactivity, calculating the backward planning for how long it will take.\nBecause all components must be included,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the construction points in each segment have not\nyet been decided, as further study is needed.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor example, first in Jakarta Bay, in Central Java, West Java, and\nso on. But for the 15 segments, there are sub-segments and sections\nwithin them that require collaboration,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Rosan Roeslani also could not yet confirm Danantara\u2019s investment in\nthis project.<\/p>\n
