        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 Former Chief Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero) Basuki\nTjahaja Purnama, commonly known as Ahok, appeared as a witness in the\nhearing of an alleged corruption case concerning liquefied natural gas\n(LNG) procurement at Pertamina on Monday, 2 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The case implicates the former Director of Gas at PT Pertamina, Hari\nKaryuliarto, and Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business\nDevelopment at the Gas Directorate of PT Pertamina, Yenny Andayani.<\/p>\n<p>According to monitoring by Kompas.com, Ahok arrived at the Corruption\nCourt (PN Tipikor) in Jakarta at 09.57 WIB. The presiding judge then\nasked the Public Prosecutor from the Corruption Eradication Commission\n(KPK) which witnesses would be presented during the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhich witnesses will the prosecution present?\u201d asked the judge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are three witnesses,\u201d replied the prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK prosecutor stated that Ahok was summoned today because he\npreviously served as Chief Commissioner overseeing the LNG procurement\nprocess.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Basuki oversaw the LNG procurement; there were six contracts and\nhe conducted an analysis of their interrelationships,\u201d the prosecutor\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, Hari and Yenny are alleged to have approved the\nprocurement of imported LNG from Corpus Christi Liquefaction without\nfollowing procurement guidelines and granting principal approval without\nadequate justification, technical analysis, or economic analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK alleges that the LNG purchase was conducted without a\nback-to-back contract in Indonesia or with any other party, meaning the\nimported LNG lacked certainty regarding its buyers and users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, the imported LNG has never entered Indonesia to this day,\nand its price was higher than gas products available in Indonesia,\u201d\nstated Asep Guntur Rahayu, the Acting Deputy for Prosecution and\nExecution at the KPK, at the Red and White Building in Jakarta on\nThursday, 31 July 2025.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the state is alleged to have sustained losses totalling\n113,839,186 dollars, or $113.8 million.<\/p>\n<p>Hari and Yenny are alleged to have violated Article 2(1) or Article 3\nof the Law on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes in conjunction with\nArticle 55(1) clause 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).<\/p>",
