MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani inaugurated Bias Layar as a member of the\nPeople\u2019s Consultative Assembly (MPR) for the 2024-2029 term through an\ninterim replacement mechanism. The Golkar Party politician from Central\nKalimantan was sworn in at the Leadership Meeting Room of Nusantara III\nBuilding in the Jakarta Parliamentary Complex on Wednesday (18\nFebruary), replacing Mukhtarudin who now serves as Minister for the\nProtection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.<\/p>\n
The inauguration of Bias Layar was based on Presidential Decree\n(Keppres) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 131 of 2025 concerning the\nFormal Appointment of Interim Members of the House of Representatives\nand the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly for the Remaining Term of\n2024-2029.<\/p>\n
Bias Layar replaced Mukhtarudin, who was inaugurated as Minister for\nthe Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers. Bias had previously been\nsworn in by the DPR leadership on Tuesday, 13 January 2026. The\ninauguration was conducted through a swearing-in ceremony according to\nthe Christian faith, accompanied by a clergyman and led directly by\nAhmad Muzani.<\/p>\n
\u201cI must remind you that the oath you are about to take carries\nresponsibility towards the nation and the State of the Republic of\nIndonesia. The responsibility to maintain and safeguard Pancasila and\nthe 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. This oath is a\npromise before God Almighty and before humanity that must be fulfilled\nwith complete sincerity and honesty,\u201d said Ahmad Muzani in his statement\non Wednesday (18 February 2026).<\/p>\n
Following this reminder, Bias Layar proceeded with the swearing-in\nceremony as an MPR member, led directly by Muzani. In his oath, Bias\ndeclared that he would carry out his duties as an MPR member to the best\nof his ability in accordance with legislation and guided by Pancasila\nand the 1945 Constitution.<\/p>\n
\u201cBefore God, I pledge that I will fulfil my duties as a Member of the\nPeople\u2019s Consultative Assembly to the best of my ability and as fairly\nas possible, in accordance with legislation and guided by Pancasila and\nthe 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia,\u201d Bias stated in his\noath.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat in carrying out my duties I will work earnestly for the\nupholding of democratic life, and will prioritise the interests of the\nnation and state above personal or group interests. That I will champion\nthe aspirations of the people and the region I represent, to realise\nnational objectives in the interest of the nation and the Unitary State\nof the Republic of Indonesia,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
After delivering the oath, the MPR leadership followed by senior\nofficials and other guests offered their congratulations to Bias Layar.\nBias expressed that the mandate as an MPR member is a responsibility he\nwill undertake, particularly in socialising the Four Pillars of\nNationhood.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith this, I will be able to carry out my duties, particularly\nregarding the socialisation of the four pillars, as well as the duties\nand authorities of the MPR.
