In Banyumas, Central Java, sacrificial animal prices have risen modestly by about Rp5,000 per kilogram, but consumer purchasing power has weakened, leading to around a 5% drop in transactions ahead of Eid al-Adha. Officials say the dip reflects ongoing economic adjustment, but farmers and traders still have opportunities to boost sales, with continued market monitoring planned across Banyumas; staples remain largely stable and stock levels are sufficient.

Markets in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, reported a decline in
transactions for sacrificial animals ahead of Eid al-Adha, with a
marginal rise in prices of around Rp5,000 per kilogram. Deputy Regent
Dwi Asih Lintarti noted that while the price increase is modest,
purchasing power among residents has weakened, with purchases of
sacrificial animals down by about 5 percent compared with the previous
period. She described this as a consequence of ongoing economic
adjustment or efficiency measures.

Nevertheless, farmers and traders still have opportunities to boost
sales ahead of the peak of Eid al-Adha. “In the final week this is
expected to be utilised to the maximum by farmers to optimise sales of
sacrificial stock,” she said. She added that monitoring will continue at
several other livestock markets in Banyumas, including Sokaraja Market
at the weekend, to ensure distribution runs smoothly and all stock is
absorbed by the market.

In addition to monitoring livestock prices, the delegation also
checked staple food prices at Pasar Manis Purwokerto. The results showed
that prices for several commodities such as chilies, vegetables, rice,
and meat were stable and at normal levels. “Overall, staple prices
remain stable and safe,” Lintarti said. She noted that only red onions
had a slight price increase, considered reasonable due to rising demand
ahead of the festival. “The overall stock of staples is safe and
sufficient to meet community needs until Eid al-Adha,” she added.
(H-2)

The Temanggung Regency Livestock Health Inspection Team routinely
monitors animal health at markets.

Some residents feel more confident buying directly from farms or
smallholders, as prices are lower and quality is considered
superior.

Tasikmalaya City Government recorded a 50% drop in sacrificial stock
due to weakened purchasing power, although animal health has been
confirmed as safe from PMK.

Trading activity for sacrificial animals at Jonggol Livestock Market,
Bogor Regency, West Java.

DSP Farm cattle and sheep, owned by a young farmer from Bandung, has
again been trusted to supply sacrificial animals for the President’s
Banmas programme in 2026.

As Eid Al-Adha 1447 Hijri approaches, the trend in selecting
sacrificial animals in Yogyakarta has shifted.

Currently, it is estimated that around 700 head of cattle and 700
goats will be traded at Pasar Hewan Siyono in the lead-up to Eid
al-Adha.

Prices for Bali cattle used for sacrifice in Bengkulu City, Bengkulu
Province, rose significantly to Rp17 million to Rp19 million per
head.

A complete guide to choosing healthy sacrificial animals in
Jabodetabek for Eid al-Adha 2026, with updated price comparisons for
cows and goats.

Read tips for planning Eid al-Adha 2026 finances from Dompet Dhuafa.
Flexible price options are available for domestic and international
distribution.
",
