        "content": "<p>At the National Seminar on Cooperative-Based Palm Oil Optimization\nand Downstreaming here on Tuesday, Juliantono said Felda could serve as\na reference for consolidating smallholder plantations and palm oil\nfarmers through cooperatives.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that despite this smaller land area, Malaysia\u2019s crude palm\noil (CPO) production and export volumes remain relatively close to\nIndonesia\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat means there is a difference in management,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said Indonesia\u2019s palm oil plantation composition\nconsists of 54 percent large companies, 43 percent smallholder\nplantations, and 3 percent state plantations.<\/p>\n<p>He said the large share of smallholder plantations needs to be\nmatched with stronger farmer institutions through cooperatives, so they\ncan take on a bigger role in the palm oil industry.<\/p>\n<p>Juliantono expected Agrinas Palma Nusantara to build the ecosystem\ndirectly with cooperatives, including by strengthening large-scale CPO\nsales, extending to export markets.<\/p>\n<p>He also encouraged the ecosystem to strengthen Indonesia\u2019s CPO export\ncapacity and develop downstream industries, including derivative\nproducts such as cooking oil.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should also export our CPO abroad.
