Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasised that the\ngovernment\u2019s rice reserve stock, managed by Perum Bulog, remains stable\namid global geopolitical turbulence, including in the Middle East.\nCurrently, the national rice stock is recorded at 4.5 million\ntonnes.<\/p>\n
\u201c(The government\u2019s rice stock) is now approximately 4.5 million\ntonnes. This is the highest during the existence of this republic. So,\nno need to doubt it,\u201d said Amran while inspecting the Bulog Panaikang\nWarehouse in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Sunday (5\/4\/2026), quoted from\nAntara.<\/p>\n
He explained that this surge in rice stock is the result of various\nstrategic government policies to boost production in a short time.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn line with the instructions of Father President Prabowo Subianto,\nthe President\u2019s top priority programme has proven able to increase rice\nproduction in a short time, just one year,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Amran revealed that the high rice stock has even exceeded the\navailable warehouse capacity. Currently, Bulog\u2019s warehouse capacity is\naround 3 million tonnes, so the government has had to rent additional\nwarehouses up to 2 million tonnes.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur warehouses are full, capacity is only 3 million tonnes, now\nwe\u2019ve rented 2 million tonnes of warehouses. We will rent more in the\nfuture. Possibly, in the next 10 days, 20 days, the stock (of rice) will\nalready be 5 million tonnes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that this achievement is the highest in Indonesia\u2019s\nhistory.<\/p>\n
\u201cHave you ever heard of the Republic of Indonesia having a rice stock\nof 5 million tonnes? So, no need to worry, food is secure,\u201d he\nasserted.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn South Sulawesi alone, it used to be 300 thousand tonnes, today\n(rice stock) is 761 thousand tonnes, double. The entire Indonesia stock\nis 4.5 million tonnes. In 20 days, 5 million tonnes and it is not\nimpossible in the next two months 6 million tonnes,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
To support the absorption of farmers\u2019 harvest results, the government\ncontinues to increase storage capacity. Amran even compared the current\nsituation to before, when warehouses were rented out due to low\nstock.<\/p>\n
\u201cImagine, in the past, the warehouses were rented to people because\nthey were empty. Now we are renting warehouses,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He assured that the availability of this rice has been directly\nverified through field checks.<\/p>\n
