The Attorney General\u2019s Office (Kejagung) has named a new suspect in\nthe alleged corruption case concerning the governance of the free\nnutritious meals (MBG) programme. The new suspect is Asep Yusuf\nSomantri, known as AYS, a private sector actor.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, to all media colleagues, last Saturday, 6 June 2026, the\ninvestigative team named one more person as a suspect, AYS, a private\nparty,\u201d said Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigation at the\nJunior Attorney General for Special Crimes, at the Kejagung office in\nSouth Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n
He stated that the suspect Asep is a private party enlisted by Sony.\nAsep allegedly sought partners for the implementation of the MBG\nprogramme. \u201cWith the case position roughly as follows: AYS is a private\nparty requested by suspect SS (Sony Sonjaya) in his capacity as Deputy\nHead of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to find partners for the\nimplementation of the free nutritious meals programme,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Syarief stated that Sony allegedly gave access to AYS to intervene\nwith the MBG partner verification team. Consequently, Sony knew of\nvacant kitchen locations and cancelled the status of prospective SPPG\n(Meal Service Fulfilment Units) that had initially been approved on the\nMBG partner portal. \u201cThat Mr SS unlawfully gave access to AYS to\nintervene with the MBG partner verification team, so he could identify\nvacant kitchen locations and manipulate prospective SPPG applicants\nregistered on the MBG partner portal, causing their initially approved\nregistration status to be cancelled,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He added that AYS allegedly facilitated SPPG applicants who\nregistered on the portal after it had closed. AYS is also alleged to\nhave given a sum of money to Sony. \u201cMr AYS facilitated newly registering\nSPPG on a portal that was already closed. After arranging these SPPG\nlocations, Mr AYS unlawfully gave a sum of money to suspect SS,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n
For his actions, AYS is suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or\nletter b of the Corruption Eradication Law and Article 605 paragraph 2,\nArticle 606 of the Criminal Code. AYS is currently being detained for\nthe next 20 days at the Salemba Detention Centre branch of the South\nJakarta District Prosecutor\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
Previously, the Kejagung had named three individuals as suspects in\nthe alleged MBG governance corruption case. They are: 1. Former BGN Head\nDadan Hindayana; 2. Former BGN Deputy Head Sony Sonjaya; and 3. Former\nBGN Deputy Head Lodewyk Pusung.
