Agian wakes up from coma<\/p>\n

A woman, whose husband persistently sought legal approval for
\ndoctors to euthanize her, is finally able to speak coherently.<\/p>\n
Agian Isna Naili, 33, greeted her visitors and chatted with
\nMinister of Health Siti Fadilah Supari on Thursday, while lying
\non her bed at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital (RSCM).
\nShe had been recovering from a coma for the past five months.<\/p>\n
\"Don't ask about my husband,\" she said, as quoted by
\ntempointeraktif. Her husband, Hasan Kesuma -- who had claimed he
\ncould no longer afford to pay her medical bills -- was nowhere to
\nbe seen.<\/p>\n
Hasan had also considered suing the hospital for alleged
\nnegligence in Agian's treatment. The Central Jakarta District
\nCourt, however, rejected the motion and now the health ministry
\nand the hospital have exempted Agian from paying her hospital
\nbills.<\/p>\n
Agian fell into a coma shortly after giving birth to her
\nsecond child through surgery at the Bogor Islamic Hospital in
\nJune. She was treated at several other hospitals before being
\nadmitted to RSCM on Aug. 27.<\/p>\n
Neurologist Yusuf Misbach, head of the Suparjo Rustam special
\nward where Agian was being treated, said on Thursday that the
\npatient's condition had improved over the last two months.<\/p>\n
He said that doctors expected her to recover, although not
\ntotally, underlining that Agian was never in as deep a coma as
\nHasan had claimed. The doctors said that all of her internal
\norgans except for her brain functioned, which only made it
\ndifficult for her to move her muscles.<\/p>\n
Yusuf, who heads the eight-strong team of doctors treating
\nAgian, added that the hospital was ready to discharge her to be
\ncared for at home, but she had refused.<\/p>",
