Agencies report no increase in travel<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The uncertain political situation in the capital
\nused to be a blessing in disguise for travel agencies, airline
\ncompanies and hotels, as many people rushed to find a \"safer
\nplace\".<\/p>\n
But things no longer seem to be that way. Even though the
\npolitical situation has heated up recently, there has been no
\nsign of an exodus.<\/p>\n
Sales and marketing manager of Panorama Tours Tom M.C. Ifle
\nsaid there had been no increase in the number of travelers who
\nhad contacted them over the past few days.<\/p>\n
\"On the contrary, it (the total) decreased in the past couple
\nof days,\" he told The Jakarta Post on Monday.<\/p>\n
Petty, a ticketing agent at Iwata Nusantara Tours and Travel,
\nsaid that very few foreigners had booked tickets on Monday.<\/p>\n
\"In the past years, foreigners usually rushed to buy tickets
\nif the situation heated up. But now, most of them already have
\nstandby tickets,\" she said.<\/p>\n
Airline companies did not see any extraordinary change in the
\nnumber of passengers.<\/p>\n
\"It's normal, and there's been no significant increase or
\ndecrease,\" Edy Suwarsono, the head of reservations at Garuda
\nIndonesian Airways, told the Post.<\/p>\n
A similar situation was found in most hotels all over the
\ncapital. When contacted, several hotels, such as Hotel Aryaduta,
\nMercure Slipi, Santika and Horizon, said that their occupancy
