        "content": "<p>Agats flights halted for renovation<\/p>\n<p>JAYAPURA, Papua: Flights to the capital of Asmat regency, Agats,<br>\nlocated some 700 kilometers southwest of Jayapura, are to be<br>\nhalted temporarily while Ewer Airport is being renovated.<\/p>\n<p>The runway renovations are to be finished in early January,<br>\nsaid Asmat regent Watken on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Watken said that, for the time being, those who wished to<br>\nvisit the regency could take commercial speedboats from the<br>\nnearest major town of Timika, as most people were now doing.<\/p>\n<p>Ewer Airport is used by small airplanes, including twin-otter<br>\nplanes with a nine-passenger capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The airport also served weekly commercial flights from<br>\nMerauke, some 600 kilometers Southeast of Agats, with one-way<br>\ntickets costing Rp 150,600 (US$17.7) each.<\/p>\n<p>Asmat regency is renowned for its unique Papuan carvings. --<br>\nAntara<\/p>",
