The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) surged 2.71 percent on Wednesday, buoyed by investor approval of government interventions and a stronger rupiah. The bounce was driven by state-backed share buyback plans and an emergency rate hike by Bank Indonesia, even as regional markets fell on geopolitical tensions. The broad rally saw all eleven sectors advance, led by transport and logistics stocks.

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) of the Indonesia Stock Exchange
(IDX) closed stronger on Wednesday (10/6/2026) afternoon, as investors
welcomed policies implemented to address domestic financial market
turmoil. The JCI closed up 155.73 points, or 2.71 percent, at 5,902.38.
Meanwhile, the LQ45 index of 45 leading stocks rose 20.16 points, or
3.54 percent, to 589.48.

“The JCI’s rebound continued, supported among other things by a
correction in global crude oil prices and a strengthening of the rupiah
exchange rate. In addition, domestic investors appreciated the
government’s initial response in dealing with the turbulence in the
Indonesian capital market,” said Phintraco Sekuritas Head of Research
Ratna Lim in her analysis in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Domestically, the JCI extended its gains following a positive market
response to domestic policies related to the capital market and monetary
conditions. On Tuesday (9/6), discussions were held between the
Indonesian House of Representatives, Danantara Indonesia, the
State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara), BPJS, and state-owned insurers
regarding a planned buyback programme for large-cap state-owned
enterprise shares.
