In addition to 13 climbers being caught\npicking edelweiss flowers and littering, one other person was also found\ncarrying methamphetamine while preparing to climb.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is correct. The case has been transferred to the Bima Police\nnarcotics unit,\u201d said Tambora Police Chief Iptu Suhadak when contacted\nby detikBali on Friday (21\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Suhadak said the case came to light after a joint team from Tambora\nPolice, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, forest police and the\nMount Tambora National Park Office conducted patrols and inspected the\nbelongings of climbers preparing to ascend Mount Tambora. The operation\ntook place on the climbing route in Oi Bura Village, Tambora District,\non Saturday (15\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>When approached by the joint officers, a man identified by the\ninitials RH (19), a resident of Labuhan Kananga Village, Tambora\nDistrict, appeared suspicious and discarded a small wallet before\nfleeing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter examination, the wallet contained five clips of\nmethamphetamine and a smoking device (bong),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Suhadak stated that the evidence related to the narcotics offence has\nnow been handed over to investigators from the Bima Police narcotics\nunit for further legal processing. The handover of evidence took place\non Tuesday (18\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe evidence has been handed over by Tambora Police to investigators\nfrom the Bima Police narcotics unit,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Bima Police Narcotics Unit Chief AKP Dediansyah confirmed\nthe matter. He said the evidence of five clips of methamphetamine and a\nsmoking device had been received and would be processed further. The\nsuspected perpetrator, whose identity has been recorded, is being\npursued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will investigate this case thoroughly. The suspected owner of the\nmethamphetamine and smoking device, with the initials RH, is still being\nhunted,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>",
