Africans arrested for fraud<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): City Police have arrested six African men for
\nallegedly cheating people into handing over their US Dollar
\nbanknotes based on the promise that the amount would be doubled
\nafter a certain period of time.<\/p>\n
\"The six men operated in three groups, but they conducted a
\nsimilar operation. Another suspect is still at large,\" city
\npolice detectives chief Sr. Comr. Harry Montolalu said on
\nThursday.<\/p>\n
Harry said that the suspects, who were arrested separately on
\nWednesday, told the victims that they could double their original
\namount of dollars.<\/p>\n
\"They mesmerized their victims so that the latter did not
\nrealize that the banknotes had already been replaced with black
\npapers by the suspects,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Suspects Bah Ismail and William Prowd were arrested at a hotel
\nin the Melawai area of South Jakarta; Fonbas K. and Nyampa
\nRichard Alain were caught on Jl. Percetakan Negara in Central
\nJakarta; and Ous Mane Djibra Techhnya and Raymond Christian,
\nalias Christ, were nabbed at a hotel on Jl. Tanjung Duren in West
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
Police managed to seize a suitcase full of black papers,
\nchemicals and two plastic bottles which had contained chemicals
\nfrom the suspects, Harry said.<\/p>\n
The victims, identified as Lieske and Sukisman, admitted to
\nhaving lost thousands of dollars, he said. (jun)<\/p>",
