Afghan refugee burns himself<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: An Afghan asylum seeker, Ali Muhammad, died in the
\nhospital on Sunday after apparently setting himself on fire at
\nhis temporary shelter at Wisma Delima on Jl. Jaksa, Central
\nJakarta, on Friday.<\/p>\n
However, the police are investigating his death due to
\n\"unnatural causes\" after a deep gash was found across his chest.<\/p>\n
Ali, who had been in Indonesia for about one year, was
\nadmitted to Pertamina Public Hospital in South Jakarta for
\nintensive treatment on Friday.<\/p>\n
He was pronounced dead on Sunday and his remains were taken by
\nthe police late Monday to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Central Hospital
\nfor an autopsy.<\/p>\n
A source at the City Police said there were some
\n\"irregularities\" found on the body.<\/p>\n
Rawi, a staff member at the Pertamina hospital morgue,
\nconfirmed the presence of the cut across Ali's chest in addition
\nto the burn wounds.<\/p>\n
Ali, 40, had lived in various cities in Indonesia. He was
\nunder the sponsorship of the International Organization for
\nMigration (IOM).<\/p>\n
Arista, an IOM spokesperson, said Ali's death would be
\nconsidered a suicide unless further evidence was brought to
\nlight. She added that Ali had tried to kill himself in March but
