        "content": "<p>The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has stated it is ready to continue\nworking with Indonesia on industrial development to create inclusive and\nhigh-value-added jobs. \u201cADB will continue to work with the Indonesian\ngovernment to help realise this potential into inclusive and\nhigh-value-added jobs for the Indonesian people,\u201d said ADB Country\nDirector for Indonesia Bobur Alimov at the Indonesia Development Talks\nevent held in Jakarta on Thursday. ADB research shows that the\nmanufacturing sector can play a very important role in helping\ndeveloping economies narrow the productivity gap with more advanced\neconomies. The study highlights the importance of policies that support\nindustrial upgrading, skills development, and investment to help\neconomies transition to higher value-added activities. The findings are\nin line with UNIDO\u2019s Industrial Development Report 2026, which\nemphasises the need for targeted industrial policies to strengthen\ncompetitiveness and sustain long-term growth. The report cites\nIndonesia\u2019s efforts to expand domestic mineral resource processing as an\nexample of a policy aimed at increasing value addition and industrial\ndevelopment. Both studies stress that industrial transformation requires\nmore than just investment. Strong institutions, a skilled workforce,\nadequate infrastructure, and access to financing are essential to help\nfirms grow and compete. \u201cAt its core, industrial development is about\npeople. Indonesia is experiencing real momentum in its industrial\ntransformation, and this research shows how far that momentum can drive\nproductivity growth with the right policy choices,\u201d said Bobur.
