Kolaka (ANTARA) - A Mekongga customary leader has said that the\nblocking of a hauling road in the National Strategic Project (PSN) area\nof PT Indonesia Pomalaa Industry Park (IPIP) in Kolaka, Southeast\nSulawesi, is paralysing the local economy and threatening the investment\nclimate in the region.<\/p>\n
Coordinator of the Mekongga Indigenous Community Djabir Teto\nLahukuwi, when met in Kendari on Friday, said that the obstruction or\nblocking of the road by PT TRK was deemed detrimental to various parties\nand disrupted the investment climate as well as the livelihoods of local\nresidents who depend on the industrial operations for their income.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuch blockades must not be carried out, because ongoing activities\nwill automatically be obstructed. This includes the workforce,\nparticularly local people who are already employed, such as truck\ndrivers who are losing retase income because operations have come to a\nhalt,\u201d said Djabir.<\/p>\n
According to Djabir, if PT TRK claims to have rights over the land\nused as the hauling road access, the appropriate step should be through\nlegal channels, not by unilaterally closing operational access.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they genuinely believe they have rights over the land there, they\nshould pursue it through legal channels via a civil lawsuit in court or\nan official report,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
He also urged law enforcement officers to act firmly in addressing\nthe blocking of the hauling road in the PSN area so that it does not\nrecur.<\/p>\n
\u201cSecurity forces must act firmly; there must be no tolerance for such\nincidents,\u201d said Djabir.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Kolaka Police\nAKP Fernando Oktobe appealed to all parties in the dispute to exercise\nrestraint and respect the legal process currently being handled by the\nSoutheast Sulawesi Regional Police.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis matter is ongoing at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police,\nwith PT TRK as both the reporting party and the reported party. We urge\nall parties to exercise restraint and entrust the handling of the case\nto the police,\u201d said Fernando.<\/p>\n
He explained that the police are focused on maintaining public\nsecurity and order to prevent the emergence of new criminal acts at the\nPSN hauling road site.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe call on each party not to take provocative actions that could\ntrigger new criminal offences.
