        "content": "<p>Activists protest death of farmer<\/p>\n<p>MEDAN, North Sumatra: A horde of rights activists marched to<br>\nthe North Sumatra Legislative Council building on Friday to<br>\nprotest the death of a farmer who was allegedly shot by police<br>\nduring a demonstration on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The activists, who included Legal Aid Association (PBHI)<br>\nrepresentatives, urged the legislators to probe the death of Edy<br>\nSusilo and summon the provincial police chief over the case.<\/p>\n<p>A. Hidayat, spokesman for the activists, said that state<br>\nplantation company PTPN II and the police must be held<br>\naccountable for the fatal shooting of Edy. Hidayat had with him<br>\nthe shell of a bullet believed to have been used to shoot Edy.<\/p>\n<p>During Wednesday's rally, Edy and hundreds of local farmers<br>\noccupied a plot of land belonging to the plantation firm and<br>\nburned a tobacco drying warehouse.
