Act in the name of reform<\/p>\n

I agree with Jati Hartana's opinion (Sinar Pagi, May 21) that
\nmany people now act in the name of reform but actually do so out
\nof self-interest.<\/p>\n
They may be opportunists. I prefer to refer to them as
\n\"advertising reformists\". As such they offer goods and services
\nwith the objective to gain a profit. It is true of the people who
\nloudly proclaim reform, in front of students in particular and
\nthe community in general, in order to gain the sympathy of the
\nmasses (perhaps for the presidency). They do not deserve to hold
\na position in government, let alone become the president.<\/p>\n
Without lacking respect for the students, the reformists and
\nthe advertising reformists, I would like to suggest that they
\ntake a rest and give President Habibie a chance to prove his
\nstatement that he and his Cabinet will improve our economy, which
\nis in a decrepit state.<\/p>\n
The people are fed up with political problems. They want to
\nenjoy good meals and live peacefully. What is the use of
\nsupporting reform if it does not benefit the people?<\/p>\n
I agree with the stance taken by Megawati Soekarnoputri, who
\nhas not joined the voices of reform. I will support her party.<\/p>\n
