Jakarta \u2013 Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for\nMissing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), remains under\nintensive care following an acid attack by unknown perpetrators in the\nSalemba area of Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The victim is receiving treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital\n(RSCM). Medical examination results have identified burn injuries\nsustained in the attack. Based on the medical and forensic examination\n(visum et repertum) findings, Andrie has suffered burns to several parts\nof his body.<\/p>\n
\u201cBurns were identified on the right side of his face extending to his\nchest, as well as burns on his right hand and left hand,\u201d said Central\nJakarta Metro Police Chief Senior Commissioner Reynold Hutagalung,\nspeaking on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.<\/p>\n
Investigators are continuing their investigation to identify the\nperpetrators of the acid attack. Police suspect the attack was carried\nout by four individuals operating two motorcycles.<\/p>\n
The Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya\nRegional Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated that the\nsuspects had been tracking the victim\u2019s movements prior to the\nattack.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe suspected perpetrators had been monitoring the victim\u2019s\nmovements since before the incident. They moved from South Jakarta\ntowards an initial gathering point on Jalan Merdeka Timur or in front of\nGambir Station,\u201d said Iman.<\/p>\n
According to him, based on CCTV footage collected by investigators,\nthe perpetrators moved through several roads in central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
They were seen passing through Jalan Ir H Djuanda, Jalan Medan\nMerdeka Barat and the Tugu Tani area before heading towards the office\nof the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI).<\/p>\n
From that location, the perpetrators are believed to have begun\nfollowing the victim after Andrie Yunus completed his activities at the\nYLBHI office.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom YLBHI, the perpetrators followed the victim when he finished\nhis activity. The victim did not go directly to the crime scene but\nrefuelled at Cikini Raya, which was also monitored by the perpetrators,\u201d\nsaid Iman.<\/p>\n
Around 11:32 PM, the perpetrators were also observed in the Cikini\nRaya petrol station area.
