Aceh's great youth potential<\/p>\n

A gathering with youths in Aceh under the Indonesian Youth and
\nChildren's Friendship Program for Aceh in April showed local
\nteens' great potential in many fields.<\/p>\n
Some of the teenagers excelled in painting, poetry and
\nEnglish, while one student was even a regency champion of the
\nMathematics Olympiad. They also had a great enthusiasm for
\ntransforming Aceh into a better region in the future.<\/p>\n
Sadly, the government, especially the regional administration,
\nit seem is less responsive to the local human resource needs in
\nAceh. It is instead more preoccupied by the province's corruption
\ncases and post-tsunami reconstruction.<\/p>\n
The potential of Aceh's youth should remain the focus of
\ngovernment attention because these youths will later rebuild
\ntheir regions. Meanwhile, the government has drawn up no special
\nschemes for handling youth in Aceh.<\/p>\n
