Aceh Tamiang, Aceh — The Head of the Aceh Tamiang Regency’s Office of
Cooperatives, MSMEs, Industry, and Trade (Diskoperindag), Ibnu Azis, has
reported that 98 per cent of micro, small, and medium enterprises
(MSMEs) have resumed operations following the flash floods that struck
Aceh Tamiang in November 2025.

“We have observed that nearly 98 per cent are fully active again,
including both the markets in Kuala Simpang town and the morning
markets,” Azis said when met at the Aceh Tamiang Sports Hall Complex in
Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang, on Thursday.

Azis said the MSMEs that have resumed operations include food
producers, seafood traders selling fish, and others. He noted that the
recovery of MSME activity in the Aceh Tamiang area had been relatively
swift, given that all MSMEs were completely paralysed during the first
week after the flash floods.

“In the first week after the floods, there was absolutely no
activity, but over these three months we have seen activity resume to
nearly 100 per cent,” Azis said.

On the same occasion, Azis also highlighted the significant surge in
the number of MSMEs recorded in the Aceh Tamiang area. In 2024, Aceh
Tamiang had recorded 15,073 active MSMEs in the region. Following the
floods, approximately 40,000 MSMEs in the Aceh Tamiang area were
identified as having been affected.

“The Regent has instructed that MSMEs must recover and the economy
must keep running,” Azis said.

The Aceh Tamiang administration has organised Ramadhan bazaars to
help revive MSMEs affected by the flash flood disaster. Azis said two
locations had been prepared for the Ramadhan bazaars — one at the Aceh
Tamiang Sports Hall Complex and another in Kuala Simpang town.

Beyond providing trading spaces, Diskoperindag is also delivering
training programmes for MSME operators and collecting data on MSME
operators to facilitate assistance from relevant ministries and
agencies.

“In the coming days, we will also conduct socialisation sessions on
People’s Business Credit (KUR) loans for the public, covering loans at
zero per cent, three per cent, six per cent interest, and so on,” Azis
said.
",
