Aceh doesn't need local parties<\/p>\n

The Aceh problem will soon be peacefully resolved after
\nanother round of negotiations between the disputing parties.<\/p>\n
However, the demand of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) to set up
\nlocal political parties after recognizing the unitary state of
\nIndonesia has become a stumbling block.<\/p>\n
After the signing of the memorandum of understanding, GAM
\nmembers will receive amnesty from the president. Their rights,
\nincluding political rights, will be restored so that they are
\nequal to other Indonesian citizens. Therefore, they will need no
\nlocal parties. If they receive this extra right, this in effect
\nmeans the government is recognizing GAM.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian government has been yielding so as to prevent a
\nlot more victims from dying in the conflict, striving to settle
\nthe fighting in a peaceful and elegant manner.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, GAM should not be allowed too much leeway. If
\nGAM recognizes the unitary state of Indonesia, its obedience to
\nthe law and Constitution of Indonesia should be enough.<\/p>\n
