POSO \u2014 Access to electricity remains a challenge for some communities\nin a number of regions. Yet the availability of energy is a basic need\nthat affects education, economic activity and people\u2019s quality of life.\nEfforts to broaden access to electrification continue to be made through\ncollaboration between various parties.<\/p>\n
One such effort took place in Tegal Rejo village, Poso Kota Utara\ndistrict, Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi, on Thursday (23\/7\/2026). The\nGerakan Kristiani Indonesia Raya (GEKIRA) together with PT PLN (Persero)\nprovided free electricity meter installations for residents who did not\nyet have an electricity connection.<\/p>\n
Yeremias Ndoen, Secretary General of the GEKIRA central board, said\nthere are still people facing limited access to electricity who need\nsupport to enjoy this basic service.<\/p>\n
\u201cElectricity is not only about lighting, it also concerns children\u2019s\neducation, families\u2019 economic activity, environmental safety and\nimproving people\u2019s quality of life,\u201d said Yeremias.<\/p>\n
According to him, providing electricity access is one step towards\nensuring that people have equal opportunities to improve their\nwelfare.<\/p>\n
Yeremias also commended PT PLN (Persero) for collaborating to bring\nelectricity access to communities. He said expanding energy access\nrequires synergy among various parties so that the benefits of\ndevelopment can be felt more evenly.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe appreciate PLN, which remains committed to delivering fair and\nequitable energy to the Indonesian people. Collaborations like this show\nthat development requires joint work between the government, state-owned\nenterprises, community organisations and all elements of the nation,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Jimmy Langelo, chair of GEKIRA\u2019s Central Sulawesi regional board,\nassessed that the presence of electricity will have a direct impact on\npeople\u2019s lives, from supporting children\u2019s studies to opening up more\nproductive business opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe presence of electricity in the community will open up more\nopportunities. Children can study better at night, families can carry\nout household activities more comfortably, and people have the chance to\ndevelop more productive economic activities,\u201d said Jimmy.<\/p>\n
Rizal Calvari Marimbo, Director of Generation Management at PT PLN\n(Persero), said PLN supports various efforts to expand electricity\naccess for underprivileged communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe at PLN fully support the free electricity installation programme\nfor underprivileged communities in Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi\nProvince,\u201d said Rizal.<\/p>\n
The free electricity installation programme forms part of efforts to\nbroaden electrification access, especially for communities that have not\nyet obtained adequate electricity connections.
