        "content": "<p>Universitas Indonesia (UI) has suspended the academic status of 16\nstudents from the UI Faculty of Law who are suspects in a sexual\nviolence case. The suspension of student status lasts from 15 April to\n30 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>UI\u2019s Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and\nInternational Affairs, Erwin Agustian Panigoro, stated that the sanction\nwas issued based on recommendations from the UI Task Force on Prevention\nand Handling of Violence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis recommendation is part of follow-up steps to ensure the\nexamination process runs optimally, objectively, and fairly,\u201d Erwin said\nin a written statement received on Wednesday evening, 15 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>During the deactivation period, the suspected perpetrators are not\npermitted to participate in all educational activities and teaching and\nlearning processes, including lectures, academic guidance, or other\nactivities related to academic pursuits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis policy is a preventive administrative step taken to maintain\nthe integrity of the examination process and protect all parties\ninvolved,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, they are not allowed to be on campus premises, except\nfor examination purposes by the Violence Prevention and Handling Task\nForce or for urgent and non-postponable matters, under university\nsupervision.<\/p>\n<p>The university also imposes restrictions on the suspects\u2019 involvement\nin student organisation activities.
