        "content": "<p>Muhammad Reza Syarifuddin Zaki, an academic at the Business Law\nFaculty of Bina Nusantara University (Binus), has asserted that the\nhandling of the alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) case\nimplicating the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes\n(Jampidsus) must proceed professionally and transparently, without\nspecial treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Reza assessed that the sequence of investigative developments \u2014 from\nsearches, the naming of a suspect, to the emerging proposal to transfer\nthe case to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) \u2014 has drawn\nwidespread public attention and sparked legal debate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis case is interesting to examine from an academic standpoint\nbecause from the search process, the naming of a suspect, the change in\ncase handling status, to the calls for the KPK to take over the case,\nall of it has generated debate in the public sphere,\u201d Reza said at a\ndiscussion titled \u201cSupremacy of Law or Privilege of Law? Testing the\nPublic Sense of Justice in the Handling of the Ex-Jampidsus Case\u201d, held\nin Central Jakarta on Monday (27\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the criminalisation claim put forward by Febrie, Reza\nstressed the importance of upholding legal certainty without\ndisregarding the evidentiary process already under way. He explained\nthat, by reference to Constitutional Court rulings, the designation of\nsuspect status is considered valid if supported by at least two\nsufficient pieces of preliminary evidence, including initial indications\nof losses to state finances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf every person named a suspect then claims to have been\ncriminalised, legal certainty will become ever harder to achieve,\u201d he\nasserted.<\/p>\n<p>Given that the alleged state losses in this case are categorised as\nvery substantial, Reza asked all law enforcement officials handling the\ncase to work with extra seriousness and independence. To ensure that law\nenforcement proceeds objectively, free from intervention or structural\nobstacles, he saw a need for direct attention from the head of\nstate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf necessary, President Prabowo Subianto should also give attention\nto the resolution of this case so that law enforcement can proceed\noptimally,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
