ABRI helps repair facilities<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Armed Forces will give a lending hand to
\nrepair public facilities which have been destroyed by the recent
\nmassive floods in Jakarta and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n
\"The Armed Forces in cooperation with the public will
\nrehabilitate public facilities, such as roads and places of
\nworship including mosques and churches, damaged by the floods in
\nJakarta and its surrounding areas,\" the Jakarta Military Chief
\nMaj. General Wiranto told reporters yesterday during the
\ninauguration ceremony marking the 51st edition of the Armed
\nForces Rural Civic Mission.<\/p>\n
Wiranto said the funds needed for the program will be supplied
\nby the city administration.<\/p>\n
\"The works will be cheaper if it is done by the Armed Forces,\"
\nhe added. He declined to reveal the amount needed for the
\nprogram.<\/p>\n
Besides the physical program, Wiranto said, the Armed Forces,
\nwhich will deploy 1,750 troops in five military districts, will
\nalso supervise the national discipline campaign among Jakartans.
\nThe campaign was launched by President Soeharto in May last year.<\/p>\n
The five military district are located in South, Central and
\nEast Jakarta as well as Bekasi and Tangerang. (04)<\/p>",
