Abolish arrogance through national consultation<\/p>\n
The discourse on national consultation regarding national
\neconomic problems was raised three days ago. It began from the
\nstatement of Coordinating Minister for the Economy Dorodjatun
\nKuntjoro-Jakti who said the government planned to hold an
\neconomic consultation on Oct. 31.<\/p>\n
The Minister said the national consultation would be held to
\nanticipate impacts of the global recession.<\/p>\n
We should thus formulate a new economic orientation in the
\nconsultation which will include academicians, bureaucrats,
\nmembers of parliament and small businesses.<\/p>\n
Among the issues which should be taken into account is our
\neconomic policy which is largely dependent on foreign parties.
\nThis has made the national economy vulnerable to international
\neconomic and political factors.<\/p>\n
The government should also pay greater attention to the small
\nand medium enterprises because they concern millions of people.<\/p>\n
There should also be a sense of crisis and a single vision of
\nall parties on efforts to recover the economy. As long as
\narrogance or vested interests prevail, we cannot hope for an end
\nto this multidimensional crisis.<\/p>\n
