The Secretary for Economic Policy of the Golkar Party, Abdul Rahman\nFarisi, has expressed appreciation for the government\u2019s move to lower\nthe price of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for industrial needs from the\nUS$20\u201323 per MMBTU range to US$13 per MMBTU.<\/p>\n
According to Farisi, the policy decided by President Prabowo Subianto\nthrough the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia,\nis a strategic step to maintain the competitiveness of national industry\nwhile simultaneously protecting employment.<\/p>\n
Abdul Rahman stated that the government\u2019s decision demonstrates\nagility in responding to the aspirations of the business community,\nwhich has recently faced rising energy costs due to a reduction in piped\ngas supply across several industrial regions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis policy is part of the government\u2019s approach to synchronising\nthe mix of fiscal and monetary policies to manage their impact, provide\nincentives, and mitigate risks to all community economic activities,\u201d\nsaid Abdul Rahman Farisi on Monday (29\/6).<\/p>\n
He noted that energy costs are a primary component in the production\ncost structure of industries. Therefore, the reduction in LNG prices\nwill provide room for businesses to increase efficiency, maintain\nproduction continuity, and strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian\nproducts amidst global economic uncertainty.<\/p>\n
He assessed that the government\u2019s decision to set the LNG price at\nUS$13 per MMBTU\u2014lower than the initial proposal of approximately\nUS$15\u201316 per MMBTU\u2014reflects the government\u2019s commitment to maintaining\nthe investment climate and the sustainability of the real sector.\nMeanwhile, the government also maintains the Specific Natural Gas Price\n(HGBT) policy at the US$6.5\u20137 per MMBTU range for industrial sectors\nthat meet the criteria.<\/p>\n
Abdul Rahman added that the policy not only benefits industrial\nplayers but also has a positive impact on national economic stability.\nWith more competitive energy costs, industries will have the space to\nmaintain production capacity, preserve the workforce, and suppress\nproduction costs, thereby helping to maintain public purchasing\npower.<\/p>\n
