A number of Indonesian National Police (Polri) officers have been\ninvolved in cases of violence across various regions, drawing\nsignificant public attention. The violent incidents committed by members\nof the Bhayangkara Corps have resulted in civilian deaths.<\/p>\n
The following is a summary of several cases of violence involving\npolice officers over the past year.<\/p>\n
The Aipda Robig Case<\/strong><\/p>\n Semarang Metropolitan Police narcotics unit officer Aipda Robig\nZainudin was involved in a shooting that killed a vocational school\nstudent named Gamma Rizkynata Oktafandy (17) in Semarang, Central Java.\nThe incident occurred in November 2024.<\/p>\n The shooting took place whilst Gamma and his companions were riding a\nmotorcycle in the Jalan Candi Penataran area of Semarang in the early\nhours of Sunday, 24 November 2024. Gamma was killed, whilst two of his\ncompanions were wounded by gunfire.<\/p>\n Initially, Commissioner Irwan Anwar, who was then serving as Semarang\nMetropolitan Police Chief, claimed the shooting occurred when Robig was\nattempting to disperse a gang brawl and was attacked by brawlers\ncarrying bladed weapons.<\/p>\n However, Central Java Regional Police Professional and Security\nDivision Head Commissioner Aris Supriyono gave a different account. He\nstated the shooting occurred when Aipda Robig was pursuing a suspected\ntraffic violator, which led to the incident.<\/p>\n As a consequence, Robig was sentenced to dismissal with dishonour\n(PTDH). However, the dismissal process has yet to be carried out as it\nawaits administrative procedures and the progress of legal remedies\nbeing pursued by the officer.<\/p>\n Robig was also subject to criminal proceedings and named a suspect.\nHe was charged under Article 338 of the Criminal Code for murder and\nArticle 351 for assault causing death.<\/p>\n The panel of judges at Semarang District Court sentenced Robig to 15\nyears\u2019 imprisonment and a fine of Rp200 million, with a subsidiary\nsentence of one month\u2019s detention.<\/p>\n The Affan Kurniawan Case<\/strong><\/p>\n A ride-hailing driver named Affan Kurniawan was killed after being\nrun over by a Brimob tactical vehicle during a wave of protests in\nJakarta in August 2025.<\/p>\n Affan was crushed by the tactical vehicle in the Pejompongan area of\nCentral Jakarta. At the time, Affan was reportedly delivering a food\norder when the unrest surrounding the parliamentary allowances protest\nspilled into the Pejompongan area.<\/p>\n The incident sparked public outrage. Fellow ride-hailing drivers and\nlocal residents descended on the Brimob headquarters in Kwitang, Central\nJakarta.<\/p>\n In the aftermath, seven Brimob officers were subjected to\ndisciplinary proceedings for code of ethics violations. They were:\nRegiment 4 Battalion Commander of the Brimob Corps Commissioner Cosmas\nKaju Gae, Brigadier Rohmat, Adjutant Inspector M Rohyani, Corporal\nDanang, Corporal Mardin, Private Baraka Jana Edi, and Private Baraka\nYohanes David.<\/p>\n In the ethics hearing, Cosmas was sentenced to dismissal. Rohmat, the\ndriver of the tactical vehicle, received a demotion. The remaining five\nofficers, who were passengers in the vehicle, were ordered to issue a\nformal apology.<\/p>\n Beyond the ethics proceedings, the case was also investigated as a\ncriminal matter handled by the National Police Criminal Investigation\nAgency (Bareskrim). However, no further developments in the criminal\nprocess have been reported to date.<\/p>\n The ULM Student Murder Case<\/strong><\/p>\n Banjarbaru Police public order unit officer Bripda Muhammad Seili was\nnamed a suspect in the murder of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM)\nstudent Zahra Dilla (20) in December 2025.<\/p>\n South Kalimantan Regional Police revealed that Seili committed the\nmurder in a state of panic, as the victim had allegedly threatened to\ninform Seili\u2019s fianc\u00e9e that the two had been in an intimate\nrelationship.<\/p>\n Seili was charged under Article 338 of the Criminal Code for murder\nand Article 365 for theft with violence, carrying maximum sentences of\n20 years and 9 years\u2019 imprisonment respectively.<\/p>\n Seili was also dismissed with dishonour (PTDH) by the panel of judges\nin the Police Code of Ethics Commission hearing.<\/p>\n The Bripda MS Case<\/strong><\/p>\n Brimob Company 1 Pelopor Battalion C officer Bripda Mesias Siahaya\n(MS) was involved in an act of assault that killed AT (14), a student at\nMTS Negeri Maluku Tenggara.<\/p>\n MS was named a suspect and charged under Article 35 in conjunction\nwith Article 14 of the amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 on Child\nProtection, as well as Article 474 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code.<\/p>\n The incident began when a Brimob patrol was conducting a security\noperation using a tactical vehicle in the Tual City and Southeast Maluku\nRegency areas in the early hours of Thursday, 19 February.<\/p>\n The patrol was initially stationed at the Mangga Dua Complex in\nLanggur until approximately 02:00 Eastern Indonesian Time, before moving\nto Fiditan Village in Tual City after receiving a report from residents\nregarding an alleged assault near the Tete Pancing area.<\/p>\n Upon arriving at the location, the suspect and several fellow\nofficers dismounted from the vehicle and carried out security measures.\nApproximately 10 minutes later, two motorcycles were travelling at high\nspeed from the direction of Ngadi towards Tete Pancing.<\/p>\n The suspect reportedly swung a tactical helmet as a signal. However,\nthe helmet struck the right temple of the victim, AT (14), causing the\nvictim to fall from the motorcycle face down.<\/p>\n The victim was rushed to Karel Sadsuitubun Regional Hospital in\nLanggur for medical treatment. However, at 13:00 Eastern Indonesian\nTime, the victim was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n MS was also sentenced to dismissal after being found guilty of\nviolating the police professional code of ethics. In response to the\nruling, MS stated he was still considering whether to file an\nappeal.<\/p>",
