Even the major laws\u2014about intoxicants, war, social relations\u2014were not\nrevealed abruptly. They were prepared, warned, softened, then asserted.\nThis is not a compromise with evil, but an ethical strategy so that\nhumans are not ruined by burdens they are not yet able to bear.<\/p>\n
At this point, revelation shows its solidarity with humanity. It does\nnot shame people for their lagging behind. It guides them. As if\nrevelation says: I know your limits, and I will not demand you exceed\nthem without preparation.<\/p>\n
In historical perspective, this is sharp criticism of all ideologies\nthat want to change the world with a single final document, a single\ninstant revolution, a single truth forced without process. The Qur\u2019an,\ninstead, teaches that truth which does not allow time will give rise to\nviolence, not justice.<\/p>\n
Ramadan\u2014the month of the Qur\u2019an\u2019s descent\u2014has become a symbol of this\nmethod. It is not merely a month of reading, but a month of training\npatience with the process. Reading the Qur\u2019an in this month is not\nritual repetition, but an acknowledgement that humanity remains on a\nlong journey to be worthy of bearing its meaning.<\/p>\n
Thus the Qur\u2019an\u2019s gradual descent is a lesson often overlooked: that\nGod is not hurried,<\/p>\n
