        "content": "<p>A question of consistency<\/p>\n<p>As a recent arrival in Jakarta I would like to make a comment<br>\nabout the coverage of international sporting events by The<br>\nJakarta Post. Having been in the city for more than one month now<br>\n(and as an occasional visitor to Jakarta in the past) I have<br>\nsubscribed to your fine newspaper and I am an avid reader.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst I believe the general standard of reporting and news<br>\ncoverage is impressive, throughout the majority of the paper, the<br>\nsports coverage is somewhat lacking.<\/p>\n<p>Being mindful that The Jakarta Post is the most widely read<br>\njournal among expatriates (English speaking) in Jakarta, I<br>\nbelieve the paper does not adequately cover worldwide sporting<br>\nevents.<\/p>\n<p>The paper certainly gives an extremely strong coverage to<br>\ngolf, tennis, cricket tests, rugby tests and major sporting<br>\nevents, such as the recent World Athletics Championships from<br>\nGreece.<\/p>\n<p>However, the coverage of weekly sports, of interest to<br>\nexpatriates from throughout the globe, is not consistently<br>\ncovered. Sometimes result of events are given part-way through<br>\nthe competition but not the final result. A recent example was<br>\nthe cricket test between Sri Lanka and India.<\/p>\n<p>I believe expatriates would be very happy to read the final<br>\nresults alone in a classified form. A story does not necessarily<br>\nhave to accompany a result.<\/p>\n<p>The following are the world sporting events:<\/p>\n<p>- United States: NBA Basketball, baseball, American football.<br>\nIt seems that The Jakarta Post covers American sport fairly well<br>\nat the present moment.<\/p>\n<p>- Canada: NHL Ice Hockey<\/p>\n<p>- Australia: Australian Rugby League, Australian Rules<br>\nFootball.<\/p>\n<p>- New Zealand: Rugby Super 12's.<\/p>\n<p>I believe, with the consistent and ongoing addition of these<br>\nsports every week, The Jakarta Post will reinforce its position<br>\nin Jakarta's expatriate community.<\/p>\n<p>MICHAEL GRAHAM<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Note: Thank you for your comment.<\/p>\n<p>-- Editor<\/p>",
