A lesson from Abilio<\/p>\n
DILI: Governor Abilio Jose Osorio Soares threatened to dismiss
\na staff member from the Ministry of Industry and Trade office for
\nhis insincerity in participating in a ceremony to commemorate
\nNational Awakening Day yesterday.<\/p>\n
"Before I leave the podium, I want the civil servant standing
\nin the back, corner row to come up here," Abilio said in a high
\nvoice.<\/p>\n
The civil servant, identified as Rorong, then came up without
\nhis official civil servant (Korpri) cap, which he should have
\nused in the ceremony.<\/p>\n
"Such a civil servant deserves punishment or dismissal if
\nnecessary," Abilio said, trembling with anger and pointing his
\nfinger at Rorong.<\/p>\n
The governor said that the man had followed the official
\nceremony reluctantly. "I saw him shaking his legs and putting his
\nhands in his pockets as if he was not part of the official
\nceremony," Abilio said.<\/p>\n
The provincial chairman of civil servants (Korpri),
\nRadjakarina Brahmana, said that the governor has the capacity to
\npunish errant civil servants.<\/p>\n
"How can a civil servant be a model to the public if he or she
\ncannot set a good example," Radjakarina said.<\/p>\n
The secretary general of the provincial Korpri, Latuconsina,
\nsaid he agreed with the governor's tough stance against such
