A Cabinet reshuffle pending?<\/p>\n
Despite denials, rumors of a pending reshuffle continue to
\nspread. Because nothing has been done to clear up the issue, it
\nis only natural that diverse speculations regarding the possible
\nchanges are widely circulating.<\/p>\n
One question is whether the political parties that were
\ninitially involved in the formation of the present Cabinet will
\nbe content to let developments take their own course and not take
\nany action in order to ensure their constituencies' continued
\nsupport in the future.<\/p>\n
No less important are the possible administrative and
\nmanagerial impacts of such a shakeup. In theory, a reshuffle
\nwould be seen as useful if it helps to effectively improve the
\ngovernment's performance. Whatever the case, coordination and
\ncommunication among ministers in the Cabinet is at present
\nadmittedly widely regarded as poor. Thus it is on improving these
\naspects that President Abdurrahman Wahid should put his
