        "content": "<p>The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tokyo held a\nseries of events to commemorate Indonesia\u2019s 81st Independence Day,\nconducted solemnly and modestly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe independence of the Indonesian nation is both a gift and a\nmandate for all of us to fill this independence with our best work for\nthe nation and state,\u201d said Indonesian Ambassador to Japan and the\nFederated States of Micronesia, Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir, in her speech\nat the Independence Day ceremony at the Indonesian School of Tokyo (SIT)\nin Japan on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release from KBRI Tokyo, Nurmala said that during 68 years\nof Indonesia-Japan relations, the two countries have achieved many\nthings and are now pioneering a number of priority areas of cooperation\nahead of the 70th anniversary of bilateral relations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this regard, I would like to invite all Indonesian citizens in\nJapan to strengthen friendship by maintaining good relations and\ncomplying with all legal rules and social norms applicable in Japan,\u201d\nsaid Nurmala, accompanied by Deputy Ambassador Maria Renata\nHutagalung.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the raising of the Red and White Flag was carried out by\nthe 2026 KBRI Tokyo Paskibraka officers from SIT students, who had\npreviously been trained by cadets of the Indonesian Armed Forces Academy\nat the National Defense Academy in Yokosuka, Japan.<\/p>\n<p>The event also included the awarding of the Satya Lencana medal to\nIndonesian civil servants who have served for 10 and 20 years in\nministries and non-ministerial government institutions.<\/p>\n<p>On that occasion, KBRI Tokyo also expressed deep sympathy for the\nearthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Ambassador Nurmala\ninvited all Indonesian citizens to pray for the victims.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Independence Day commemoration ceremony and\ngathering of Indonesian citizens, KBRI Tokyo also held a number of\nactivities, including a karaoke competition and the serving of\nIndonesian archipelago cuisine.<\/p>",
