750 structures demolished<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Owners of 750 houses in Tambora district in West
\nJakarta have voluntarily demolished their buildings located in
\nthree sub-districts where a new railway track linking Jakarta and
\nTangerang will be built.<\/p>\n
During the demolition, which was carried out on Wednesday, the
\nresidents of Grogol, Wijaya Kusuma and Jelambar sub-districts
\nwere assisted by officers of the West Jakarta's Law and Order
\nOffice.<\/p>\n
\"We appreciate the local people's willingness to demolish the
\nbuildings themselves because this will reduce the burden of the
\nmunicipality,\" said H. Karsidin, head of the local law and order
\noffice.<\/p>\n
Karsidin said that out the 750 demolished houses, 225 were in
\nGrogol, 417 in Wijaya Kusuma and 108 in Jelambar.<\/p>\n
He explained that his office had provided a number of trucks
\nto help transport recyclable building materials to other areas
\nfree of charge.<\/p>\n
Further demolitions along the new 20-kilometer railway track
\nbetween Duri station and the Tangerang regency border is
\nestimated to take place in 10 days, he said.<\/p>\n
The construction of the railway track will soon begin by the
\nJabotabek Railway project, he added. (hhr)<\/p>",
