Seventy-five micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) recorded
turnover of more than Rp307 million through the MSME Bazaar ‘Merdeka
Berkarya, UMKM Berdaya’ organised by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) in
Jakarta, Medan, Makassar, and Surabaya.

The event, held to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Republic
of Indonesia, was part of Pelindo’s efforts to expand market access
while encouraging MSME independence.

The bazaar, part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility
(TJSL) programme under the Economic Pillar, featured a variety of MSME
flagship products, ranging from food and beverages, fashion, crafts, and
creative products to household necessities. The event also served as a
space for MSME players to introduce their products and reach a wider
consumer base.

Pelindo Director of Institutional Affairs Hendri Ginting said MSME
empowerment is part of the company’s commitment to creating sustainable
economic benefits for the community, including those around Pelindo’s
operational areas.

‘For Pelindo, MSME empowerment does not stop at providing assistance.
We want to be present throughout the process by opening market access,
expanding opportunities, and encouraging MSMEs to continuously improve
their business capacity. The ultimate goal is for assisted MSMEs to
grow, become independent, and have sustainable businesses,’ Hendri
said.

According to Hendri, the transaction figures achieved during the
three-day bazaar serve as an indicator of the significant potential of
MSMEs when given the opportunity to introduce their products to a wider
market.

‘Turnover of more than Rp307 million shows that when MSMEs gain
market access, good products can meet their consumers. Going forward,
mentoring will continue to be directed so that MSMEs are not only able
to increase sales but also become stronger in managing and developing
their businesses,’ Hendri added.

In addition to driving sales transactions, the bazaar provided an
opportunity for MSME players to introduce their products to new
consumers, obtain direct market feedback, and expand networks that can
support business development.

One of Pelindo’s assisted MSMEs, Ryani, said the support and
mentoring she received provided an opportunity for business players to
learn while expanding their market.

‘For us, Pelindo’s support is not just about capital or the
opportunity to participate in the bazaar. We are given space to grow and
meet the market. From activities like this, we learn how to introduce
products, read consumer needs, and improve business quality. We feel
accompanied to truly grow,’ Ryani said.

Pelindo hopes the benefits of the MSME empowerment programme will
continue to develop after the bazaar ends, whether through expanded
market access, increased business networks, improved capacity of
business players, or the opening of opportunities to reach a wider
consumer base.

‘We interpret the spirit of “Merdeka Berkarya, UMKM Berdaya” as a
spirit to build independence. We want MSMEs to be more confident in
their products, stronger in running their businesses, and ultimately
able to grow sustainably and provide benefits for the community’s
economy,’ he concluded.
",
