7,000 in Tangerang suffer diarrhea<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: The Tangerang Health Agency said that 6,777 flood
\nvictims in the Tangerang area were now suffering from diseases --
\nmainly diarrhea, skin and respiratory infections.<\/p>\n
Agency officials noted that most of the victims were in Periuk
\ndistrict with 2,130 patients, followed by Karawaci, with about
\n2,000 patients.<\/p>\n
Other victims were reported in Nambo Jaya subdistrict,
\nJatiuwung district, Karang Tengah, Cipondoh, Cileduk, and
\nCibodas, which were all affected by the recent flooding
\nthroughout Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Tangerang Health Agency Chief Nuriman Machjudin said that the
\ndiseases were caused by lack of clean water, humid weather, and a
\ndirty environment, all the result of the flooding.<\/p>\n
He said on Wednesday the agency had established health
\ntreatment posts at refuge camps. All public health centers in
\nTangerang had also been prepared to accommodate the flood victims
\nfor free services.<\/p>\n
It had also planned to establish 52 additional integrated
\nhealth posts, where sick flood victims could be served for free.
