66 developers to be investigated<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): Tangerang administration will investigate 66
\ndevelopers for allegedly not allocating part of their plots for
\npublic graveyards, an official said.<\/p>\n
Assistant to administration affairs, Agus Burhanudi, said a
\nteam had been set up to investigate the issue.<\/p>\n
\"Developers which do not provide an area for public graveyards
\ncan be punished in accordance to a government regulation,\" Agus
\nsaid over the weekend.<\/p>\n
He said developers who wanted to open housing complexes in
\nTangerang should buy land provided by the city administration to
\nbe used as graveyards.<\/p>\n
Many developers have defended their position, blaming the
\nsituation on the slump in property business.<\/p>\n
Forty developers have so far given away 24.7 hectares of their
\nproperty to be used for public cemeteries, he said.<\/p>\n
\"We have used some areas for graveyards, including the
\nPancasila cemetery on the safety zone near the Soekarno-Hatta
\nInternational Airport,\" Agus said.<\/p>\n
People whose relatives were buried at public cemeteries in
\nTangerang should pay Rp 50,000 (US$17) for the first two-years
\nand a Rp 5,000 administration fee, he said. (41\/cst)<\/p>",
