65,500 apply to state universities<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): As many as 65,500 students are expected to take
\npart in the state university entrance tests in Jakarta this year,
\nan official says.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a press conference at the University of Indonesia
\ncampus yesterday, Tadjudin, the chairman of the Group A
\ncoordinating body, said senior high school students who graduated
\nin 1994, 1995 and 1996 are eligible for the tests. They are to
\ntake place on June 18 and 19.<\/p>\n
Group A includes 17 state universities in Jakarta, Sumatra,
\nWest Kalimantan and West Java. Tadjudin is the president of the
\nJakarta-based University of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Those who are 1994 and 1995 high school graduates and willing
\nto sit the test can pay for the application forms at Bank BNI
\noffices in Jakarta from May 20 to May 31, he said.<\/p>\n
\"The forms costs between Rp 35,000 and Rp 50,000 each. The
\nforms will be available between May 27 and June 1,\" Tadjudin
\nadded.<\/p>\n
This year's graduates who don't want to apply at their
\nrespective high schools can go to Bank BNI offices to pay for the
\nforms between May 27 and June 14; the forms are to be made
\navailable from June 3 to June 14.<\/p>\n
\"We suggest that 1996 graduates who are still in their third
\ngrade at high school apply for the state university seats
\ncollectively at their schools,\" he said.<\/p>\n
The committee will give special treatment to blind students or
\nthose with sight-related diseases.<\/p>\n
The tests will be held at 207 locations in the city, and will
\nneed more than 8,000 supervisors, he added. \"Medical teams will
