        "content": "<p>Ukraine launched 600 drones at the Moscow region in a sustained\novernight assault, reportedly killing one person and injuring three\nothers.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by AFP and Reuters on Sunday (16\/8\/2026), the injury toll\nwas announced by the Mayor of Moscow. Ukraine has been striking deeper\ninto Russian territory in recent weeks with waves of drones targeting\nmilitary, industrial and, most recently, e-commerce warehouses located\nfar from the front lines of a war now entering its fifth year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom last night until 6.30 this morning, 600 drones flew towards the\nMoscow region, and 201 of them were destroyed over Moscow region,\u201d\nMoscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote on the state-backed MAX platform.<\/p>\n<p>In an earlier post, Sobyanin said three people were injured in the\nMKAD area. Meanwhile, Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said one\nperson was killed in the Ukrainian drone attack.<\/p>\n<p>Vorobyov said an 83-year-old man was killed and several others were\ninjured in Podolsk, where a warehouse belonging to Russia\u2019s largest\nonline retailer, Wildberries, was reported hit. He said there was damage\nat several other locations, including a warehouse in the town of\nDomodedovo located near one of Moscow\u2019s main airports.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian Defence Ministry said it had downed 822 Ukrainian drones\nacross various regions of the country. Video footage taken by Reuters\nafter the attack on the Wildberries warehouse in Koledino showed thick\nplumes of smoke rising above the site, located about 45 km (28 miles)\nsouth of Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond Moscow, Ukrainian strikes also killed three people in the\nRostov region of southern Russia, which borders Ukraine. Rostov region\nGovernor Yuri Sliusar said three people were killed and one was\nhospitalised as a result of the overnight attack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoctors are providing all necessary assistance,\u201d Sliusar said.<\/p>\n<p>He said Russian forces destroyed more than 150 drones and missiles\nover three cities and nine districts in the southern region. According\nto Sliusar, the attack damaged residential and industrial buildings in\nthe Kamensky district.<\/p>\n<p>Several buildings in the town of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky suffered roof\ndamage, while windows were shattered and destroyed in an apartment block\nand at the town\u2019s railway station.<\/p>",
