        "content": "<p>SITUBONDO \u2014 A 60-year-old grandfather has been accused of molesting a\nfour-year-old girl in Situbondo, East Java. The Situbondo Regional\nPolice (Polres) is investigating the alleged sexual abuse by\ninterviewing multiple witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>Situbondo Police\u2019s Criminal Investigation Unit Chief AKP Agung\nHartawan stated that authorities have received a report of the alleged\nmolestation and are conducting a thorough investigation. \u2018We have taken\nstatements from four witnesses. We have not yet interviewed the victim\nor the person who reported the case as the investigation is ongoing,\u2019 he\nsaid in Situbondo on Friday, 29 June 2026.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police report submitted to Situbondo\u2019s Integrated\nPolice Service Centre (SPKT), the suspect allegedly committed the act\nagainst a neighbour\u2019s child. The report states the incident occurred on\nFriday, 13 March around 11:00 WIB and was reported on 26 May 2026 after\nthe child complained of genital pain to her parents.<\/p>\n<p>The child\u2019s condition did not improve despite initial reluctance to\nundergo examination. The family later took her for a medical check-up at\nBesuki Regional Hospital on 19 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Initially uncooperative, the victim eventually confessed to being\nmolested by the suspect after being accompanied during questioning.\nShocked by the confession, the family promptly filed a police\nreport.<\/p>\n<p>AKP Hartawan confirmed the case is being charged under multiple legal\nprovisions, including Article 76E in conjunction with Article 82(1) of\nthe Child Protection Law and Law No.\u00a012 of 2022 on Sexual Violence\nCrimes (TPKS).<\/p>",
