        "content": "<p>In response to the security situation in the Middle East following\nSaturday\u2019s brutal and lethal strikes by Israel and the United States on\nIran, Indonesia\u2019s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has emphasised\nthat ensuring the safety and protection of umrah pilgrims remains its\ntop priority. The government continues to oversee the return of pilgrims\nin a measured and coordinated manner.<\/p>\n<p>Kemenhaj spokesman Ichsan Marsha explained that the repatriation is\noccurring in stages. \u201cBetween 28 February and 1 March 2026, a total of\n6,047 pilgrims have safely returned to Indonesia. The government\ncontinues to oversee this process to ensure all pilgrims return in an\norderly and staged manner,\u201d Ichsan said in Jakarta on Monday (2\nMarch).<\/p>\n<p>Ichsan disclosed that on Saturday, 28 February 2026, 4,200 umrah\npilgrims returned to Indonesia using 12 flights. On Sunday, 1 March\n2026, a further 2,047 umrah pilgrims returned home using 5 flights.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, an estimated 43,363 prospective pilgrims from 439 umrah\ntravel operators (PPIU) are scheduled to depart before the Hajj season\nbegins on 18 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ensure that every PPIU fulfils its obligations fully, from\ndeparting to providing services in Saudi Arabia through to the pilgrims\u2019\nreturn. This responsibility cannot be overlooked,\u201d Ichsan\nemphasised.<\/p>\n<p>The government has also requested that communication between umrah\ntravel operators and pilgrims be maintained properly. \u201cWe encourage\npilgrims and travel operators to understand one another. The key is\nensuring all pilgrims remain safe, well served, and assured,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>The government guarantees state support for pilgrims facing legal\ndifficulties or emergency situations, whether in Saudi Arabia or transit\ncountries. \u201cTogether with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we continue\nto coordinate with Indonesian representatives abroad to ensure every\npilgrim issue is handled swiftly and appropriately. We urge all pilgrims\nto remain calm and follow official guidance,\u201d Ichsan concluded.<\/p>\n<p>In prioritising pilgrim safety and protection, Kemenhaj has appealed\nto umrah pilgrims scheduled to depart in the near future to postpone\ntheir journeys until conditions in the Middle East stabilise.<\/p>",
