A total of 566 male and female students at the Manbaul Hikam Islamic\nboarding school in Sidoarjo suffered food poisoning after consuming the\nFree Nutritious Meal (MBG) menu. The East Java Provincial Government has\nstated that it will prepare strict sanctions for the relevant Nutrition\nFulfilment Service Unit (SPPG).<\/p>\n
\u201cIndeed, the Head of the Task Force, who recently held a\nconsolidation meeting with the East Java MBG Task Force team, was\npresent alongside the Vice Governor. As a government, we are deeply\nconcerned as this is not the first time such an incident has occurred,\u201d\nsaid the East Java Provincial Secretary, Adhy Karyono, at the East Java\nRegional House of Representatives (DPRD) building on Wednesday\n(2\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Adhy expressed regret that the Kalitengah SPPG was not meticulous in\nserving the food, leading to the poisoning of the students. He expressed\nhope that the sanctions would be followed up by the National Nutrition\nAgency (BGN).<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though food safety certificates (SLHS) and supervision were in\nplace, they performed something beyond our oversight capabilities that\nresulted in a fatal consequence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, once again, the task force is conducting a deep\ninvestigation and has reported to the BGN to follow up on sanctions,\nparticularly regarding the investigation into the underlying cause of\nthe poisoning,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Adhy also stated that the East Java MBG Task Force will continue to\nmonitor the primary kitchens where many poisoning cases have\noccurred.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe certainly hope for firmness, and that cases such as this will not\nhappen again.
