        "content": "<p>50 ex-convicts undergo training<\/p>\n<p>BOGOR (JP): The Bogor social services office has enrolled 50<br>\nformer convicts in vocational training courses to improve their<br>\nchances of earning an independent living.<\/p>\n<p>Kusnadi, head of the social service office, said on Wednesday<br>\ntraining opportunities ranged from automotive repair to<br>\npreparation of salted eggs and noodles.<\/p>\n<p>Each participant receives transportation fees of Rp 30,000<br>\n(US$3.75) a month during the four-month training course, which<br>\nstarted in September.<\/p>\n<p>\"We hope the people will be able to create their own business<br>\nor work together with their friends after the training,\" Kusnadi<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The social services office had also conducted a labor<br>\nintensive project for jobless people.<\/p>\n<p>Kusnadi said one of the projects involved 120 people<br>\ncultivating six hectares of idle land in Balumbang Jaya village<br>\nin West Bogor.<\/p>\n<p>He said participants received Rp 120,000 (US$16) to buy<br>\nfarming tools, seeds and fertilizer.
