        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR\nRI) has officially enacted the Witness and Victim Protection Bill (RUU\nPSDK) into law during a plenary session on Tuesday (21\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The enactment followed a report on the results of the first-level\ndeliberations presented by Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the DPR\nRI, Andreas Hugo Pareira.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall, the RUU PSDK consists of 12 chapters and 78 articles.\nTherefore, we request permission to read only some of the important\npoints,\u201d Andreas stated during the plenary session on Tuesday\n(21\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>Expansion of Protected Subjects<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The PSDK Act not only provides protection to witnesses and victims\nbut also covers perpetrator witnesses, reporters, informants, and\nexperts.<\/p>\n<p>These groups are also deemed vulnerable to threats in the criminal\njustice process.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Strengthening of the LPSK Institution<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Under the PSDK Act, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK)\nis affirmed as an independent state institution free from any influence\nof power.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the LPSK is strengthened through the establishment of\nregional representatives as needed.<\/p>\n<p>The PSDK Act stipulates that the state provides compensation to\nvictims if the perpetrator is unable to meet restitution.<\/p>\n<p>This right is granted particularly to victims of gross human rights\nviolations, human trafficking, terrorism offences, and sexual\nviolence.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Establishment of the Permanent Victim Fund<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The PSDK Act regulates the establishment of the Permanent Victim\nFund, which is used to finance compensation and victim recovery.<\/p>",
