"content": "<p>The arrest of West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini by the Corruption\nEradication Commission (KPK) has sent shockwaves through Nusa Tenggara\nBarat. He was detained over alleged corruption involving fees for a\nnumber of projects within the West Lombok administration. The regent was\nnot alone; a total of 19 people were secured in the operation. KPK\nspokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the number of arrests but did not\ndetail the identities of the other 18 individuals, who were taken to the\nNTB Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) headquarters for\nexamination. Among those spotted at the Brimob headquarters were the\nDirector of PT Air Minum Giri Menang, Sudirman, and the Head of the West\nLombok Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Settlement Areas Agency, Lalu\nRatnawi. Seven of the 19 detainees, including the regent, were\nsubsequently flown to Jakarta for further investigation at the KPK\nheadquarters. During the operation, officers also seized evidence\nincluding cash in rupiah and several documents. The case is suspected to\ninvolve payments received by the regent related to projects within the\nWest Lombok administration. Prior to the transfer, the KPK sealed the\nworkspaces of the Regent and the Head of the Public Works Agency at the\nWest Lombok Regency office, placing red-and-black tape barring entry\nacross the doors. The Regional Secretary of West Lombok, Akhmad Saikhu,\nexpressed shock at the sealing of the offices and stated he had not yet\nreceived any official explanation regarding the matter.<\/p>",
